The mission of the Television Studies Scholarly Interest Group (SIG) is to promote and advance work in the fields of
Television and New Media Studies, to provide a means for those engaged in the
fields to converse and collaborate with one another, and to support
collaborative scholarship between our members and the Society for Cinema and
Media Studies membership at large.
Members of this SIG come from many disciplines and a variety
of departments, but we are drawn together via our passions about and research
concerning television and new media (internet, mobile, digital applications in
general). Some of us engage in fan studies, some of us are invested in
archiving, others in policy and still others in technology…In today’s
increasingly multi-mediated world, any number of topics and issues concern our
SIG’s members. We are professors, adjunct faculty, grad students, independent
scholars, and creative professionals seeking to better understand the role of
TV and new media in our lives.
We invite you to become involved!
