How Do I Change My Password?

Your password can be altered within the "Manage Profile” portion of the SCMS website.  You can access the "Manage Profile” link in the right hand column of any webpage on the SCMS site under the "My Profile” section.



On the "Edit My Member Profile Page,” click on the "Edit Bio” icon or link. 

Click on the "(change)” link next to the Password field.  Enter your new password in both fields and click "Submit.”  Scroll down to the bottom of the "Edit My Member Profile” page and click the "Save Changes” button.



How Do I Change My Profile Content?

You can access the "Manage Profile” link in the right hand column of any webpage on the SCMS site under the "My Profile” section.You can access the "Manage Profile” link in the right hand column of any webpage on the SCMS site under the "My Profile” section.



On the "Edit My Member Profile Page,” fill in the information you wish to have in your profile.  Please note the checkboxes next to certain information (birthday, address, phone number, etc.).  If there is information you do not wish to share on your public profile page, either do not fill in the information or make sure that the check box next to that information is unchecked.

Click the "Save Changes” button at the bottom of the "Edit My Member Profile Page” to save changes. 



How Do I Message Another Member?

You can access your messages by clicking on the "Messages” link in the right hand column of any webpage on the SCMS site under the "My Profile” section.



On the "Message Center” page, click "Message a Member” under the "Members Option” section. 

You will be directed to the "Member Search" page.  Type in the name of the person you wish to message:



Click the "Search" button.

Locate the member in the list of search results.  To the right of their name, there will be a link that says "Message This Member."  Click on the link to open the "Messaging Center - New Message" page.  

Type and format your message.  When you are finished writing, click the "Send Now" button.



How Do I Upload a Headshot to My Profile?


Access your profile by clicking on the "Profile Home” link in the right hand column of any webpage on the SCMS site under the "My Profile” section. 



Hover the mouse over the headshot in your profile until you see the "Add Photo” icon and click on it.



On the "My Profile – Upload Headshot Photo” page, click on the "Choose File” button.  




Find your photo on your computer (must be JPG, GIF or PNG format), and click "Open.”

Once your photo has been selected, click on the "Submit” button.

Your headshot should now be visible on your profile page.



How Do I Create/Upload Photos to an Album?

Go to "Manage Profile” link in the right hand column of any webpage on the SCMS site under the "My Profile” section.

Click on the Photo Gallery link/icon.



On the "Photos” page, click on the "Upload a Photo” link.  Doing this will redirect you to the "Upload a Personal Photo” link. 

 

To upload a single photo, simply click on the "Choose File” button, locate your photo on your computer and click "Open.”  
Photos must be either in the JPG, GIF or PNG photo formats.  

You can add a caption describing the photo in the caption field or a tag in the tag field, although these are for your convenience and are not mandatory.  

Click on the "Submit” button to complete the photo upload process.



How Do I Create/Post/Manage a Blog?

A blog is a great way to share ideas and information.  Blogging encourages others to interact with your page and promotes conversations among your connections.  To post a blog, access the "Manage Profile” link under the My Profile section in the right column of any SCMS webpage.  

On the Manage Profile page, scroll down and click on "Blogs” link.



On the "Create a New Blog” page, type the name of your entire blog (i.e. "Joe Smith’s Blog” or "Metz’s Maze,” not simply the name of one particular post.  Select how many of your blog posts to display per page, whether you want to let your readers leave comments about your posts, and whether you would like your readers to be able to vote on your blog.  If you want, type in a short description of what your blog is generally about ("an ongoing discussion of media or theory” or "movie reviews,” etc.) in the description field.  

Click "Submit” to create your blog.

Once you’ve created your blog, you can create a post by clicking on the link to your new blog on the "My Blogs” page.  On your blog’s main page, click on "Add New Post.”  



Once you have entered a title, written (or cut and pasted your text from a Word document), added any photos or video you would like to include in your post, click on the "Submit” button.  

To edit a post, click on the "Edit Post” link beneath the post on your blog’s main page.

To Delete a post, simply click on the "Delete Post” link beneath the post on your blog’s main page.  

To delete an entire blog (posts included), go to your "My Blogs” page and click on the "Configure Blog” icon (it looks like a wrench).  On the bottom of the blog configuration page, click on the "Delete” button.  Click the "Okay” button if you really want to delete it.



How Do I Add a Connection?

For those familiar with Facebook, adding a connection is very much like adding a friend on Facebook.  To add a connection, simply type in a colleague’s name into the search box on the SCMS homepage.  Find their profile in the search results and click on the link.  One you can view their profile, click on the "Connect” link.  



On the "Messaging Center – New Message” page, you may had text to your connection request if you want.  



Click "Send Now.”  

Your connection request will be sent to the person you wish to add as a connection.  Once connections approve your requests, you can easily access their profiles, message them, and categorize your connections by clicking on the "Connections” link on the "Manage Profile” page.   



How Do I Join a Group?

When you find a group you would like to join, simply click on the "Join Group” link.



The group admin must approve your request before you can access the group features.



How Do I Upload My CV?

To upload your CV, click on the "Manage Profile” link in the right hand column of any webpage on the SCMS site under the "My Profile” section.

On the "Manage Profile” page, click on the Résumé/CV icon.



Fill out all the necessary fields on the "My Résumé/CV” page. (Note: You have the option of attaching a document to your online CV, if you would like to include a more thorough CV that includes your publications, etc.)

Click the "Submit my Résumé/CV” button at the bottom of the page.

Your résumé/CV will be assigned an ID number that you can used in a "Quick Find” search.



If you wish to make changes to your online CV or manage any documents you attached to your CV, you can do so by clicking on the "Résumé/CV” icon on the "My Profile” page.



On the Career Center page, click on the "Résumé/CV Search” at either the top of the page, or access the search via the link in the "Résumé/CV Posting and Instructions” section.



On the Résumé/CV Search page, search CV previously viewed CVs by entering the CV’s ID #, or fill out select search criteria to cater the results to match your hiring needs. 



Click the "Search” button at the bottom of the page.

When the results come up, click on the ID number next to each result to view the CV.
