Amanda Ann Klein (Ph.D., University of Pittsburgh, 2007) is Associate Professor of Film Studies in the English Department of East Carolina University where she teaches courses in film history, theory and aesthetics and serves as coordinator of the Film Studies minor.  She  has served as Chair of the SCMS Student Writing Award Committee (2009-2010) and was a member of the SCMS Conference Program Committee in 2011-2012. Her research and teaching interests include film history, film genres/genre theory, exploitation/trash cinema, and race, gender and class studies. She won the ECU English Department’s Research and Creative Activity Award in 2012-2013 for publishing American Film Cycles: Reframing Genres, Screening Social Problems, & Defining Subcultures (University of Texas Press, 2011) and just completed the anthology Multiplicities: Cycles, Sequels, Remakes and Reboots in Film & Television (under contract with the University of Texas Press) with R. Barton Palmer (Clemson University). Her articles have appeared in The Quarterly Review of Film and Video, Jump Cut, Flow, Antenna, MediaCommons, Pop Matters, The Blot and numerous edited anthologies.
