annually from the SCMS membership. The committee may choose not to award an
honorary membership every year. Nominations are submitted to and recorded by
the SCMS office. The committee judges nominees on the following criteria:
record of distinguished contributions to the profession. Such contributions can
be scholarly, artistic, archival or pedagogic in nature.

the senior stage of their careers.
Nominations are solicited from the general
SCMS membership through a general mailing (the call for nominations is now
included in the e-newsletter) (spring/summer) and polling of committee members
will take place. The committee can choose not to award an honorary membership
every year. The committee should have the recommendation of a nominee to the
Board of Directors for approval by September 1 or the date of the fall Board
meeting. Once a selection is made the winner shall be issued a special
invitation to attend the annual conference to receive the award.
