Character Limits in the Submission Portal

• Titles: 120 characters
• Abstracts and Panel Summaries: 2500 characters
• Bios: 500 characters
• Seminar Leader Qualifications: 1500 characters
• Roundtable Speaker Topics: 50 characters

Three bibliography sources are required, with a maximum limit of five sources. There is no character limit on source fields.

Membership Questions

Account Approval: New accounts must be approved manually by the home office and are processed in the order received. An auto-generated email is sent once the account is approved. The home office is open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Weekend approvals may not be processed until Monday morning. Same-day approvals may take 1-3 hours.

If you do not receive a password reset link in your inbox or spam folder, the email address associated with your membership account may be out of date. In this case, please contact the Home Office and a staff member can update your email address.

Portal Access Issues

• Make sure your membership is active as it is necessary to access the submission portal.
• Try using a different browser, preferably Google Chrome. Download Google Chrome.
• Reset your SCMS password if necessary.
• Accept the "cookies" agreement when logging into the SCMS website.

Submission Questions

Waiver Applications: Chairs can apply for waivers for media practitioners, artists, or renowned scholars from other disciplines whose contributions would illuminate the panel, workshop, or roundtable topic. The waiver request form can be found here.
