Global Solidarity Series

Global Solidarity Series

SCMS introduces a new Global Solidarity Series, an initiative aimed at fostering practices of solidarity and building networks of support for global and precarious media scholars, supported and organized by diverse internal groups within our community.

Recognizing shared and intersecting struggles, from oppressive legal regimes and economic precarity to the legacies and present-day manifestations of colonialism, groups from across SCMS have organized the Global Solidarity Series to create space for educational opportunities, to organize against threats to scholars and scholarly work, and to expand SCMS's capacity for supporting Indigenous and international scholars. In order to sustain community-building and collaboration throughout the year and to increase global access to SCMS membership events, the Global Solidarity series will include ongoing virtual SCMS+ events throughout the year in addition to conference-linked events, such as seminars and in-person Town Halls.

All SCMS members are encouraged to participate. For more information or to get involved, email gss@scmstudies.org
