SCMS works to create an annual conference that is accessible to everyone. At our meetings, we strive to achieve universal access and prioritize inclusion as both a practical and intellectual goal. We also ask that any groups or organizations hosting
meetings and receptions for SCMS members prioritize accessibility, ensuring that access needs are met at all event locations.
- Fragrance-Free Environment: SCMS asks that attendees refrain from wearing heavily scented personal care products (such as body lotion, soap, shampoo, perfume, cologne, aftershave,
or hair spray) out of respect for those with allergies and environmental sensitivities.
- All Gender Restrooms: The annual conference hotel will have designated all-gender restroom facilities. These restroom facilities will be marked and available for use by all people,
regardless of their gender identity.
- Quiet/Sensory-Friendly Room: A designated room will be provided for attendees seeking a secluded space free from the sounds and activities of the annual conference. In this area,
attendees will be asked to silence their devices and refrain from talking.
- Lactation Room: SCMS will designate a room at the conference for parents with lactation needs.
- Childcare: If you plan to attend the conference with children and want to share childcare resources, please visit
this forum. Additional details regarding Childcare and Dependent Care Subsidies can be found on their respective pages on our website.
- Family-Friendly Conference: SCMS 2025 will be family-friendly. There will be a kids' table with arts and crafts supplies and some quiet toys (books, puzzles and so on). We will
have blank badges for kids to make and decorate.
- Mobility Aid Charging Station: A charging station will be available for attendees using powered wheelchairs or scooters to ensure they can stay charged throughout the event.
Please speak with someone at the conference registration desk for location information.
For more details regarding access-related matters, please explore our
general accessibility page and/or refer to our guidelines for presenters titled "
Removing Barriers."
Additionally, if there are accommodations that will allow you to more fully participate in our annual conference, please fill out the
