Indigenous MembershipLead by the work of the Antiracism, Equity and Diversity Committee and the Board of Directors, SCMS has introduced a new membership category for our Native and Indigenous members, as SCMS continues to expand its capacity as an equitable and anti-racist
organization. With the introduction of this program, we’ve welcomed new members into our organization and initially saw an increased presence of Native and Indigenous scholars at our last in-person conference in 2019 in Seattle, Washington. This new
program for Native and Indigenous media scholars will provide the following benefits for the first two years of membership.
- Year One: Native and Indigenous media scholars joining SCMS for the first time receive waived membership and conference registration fees for one year.
- Year Two: Native and Indigenous media scholars who have been SCMS members previously receive waived conference registration fees for one year.
