There are several ways that you can support the Society for Cinema and Media Studies:
Become a Member: SCMS is a diverse community of over 2,500 scholars (affiliated and independent) and media makers from across the world. It relies on the vibrancy of its members to sustain its position as the premiere learned society
dedicated to cinema and media. Individual members of the Society receive four issues of JCMS: Journal of Cinema and Media Studies per membership year, access to the members' area of the website, and all relevant mailings issued by SCMS. They
are also invited to attend and participate in the annual conference.

Attend the Annual Conference: The SCMS conference is held annually in different national and international locations. It brings together a cross-section of Cinema and Media scholars from across the globe. Through panels, workshops, screenings,
and special events, members of the SCMS community exchange ideas, make connections, and socialize over a four-day period. Conference locations vary throughout the United States and abroad, and attract scholars and media makers, from graduate students
to Distinguished Professors, at various stages of their careers.

Donate to an Award: Each year, SCMS presents a number of named and unnamed awards that recognize outstanding scholarship, teaching, and professional service in the fields of cinema and media studies. The Society also awards a number of
travel grants for graduate students and underemployed members. Your donation helps assure the health of these awards programs.

Join a Caucus, Scholarly Interest Group, or the Graduate Student Organization: Members are encouraged to network with one another through the Society's various caucuses, scholarly interest groups, and the GSO at the annual conference
and/or through web-based communities supported by group pages, e-mail list serves, and bulletin boards. The different groups offer members opportunities to support and to network with other SCMS members regarding pedagogy, research, publication, and
career development, and to build relationships with scholars and organizations outside the Society.
Caucus/Scholarly Interest Groups/GSO >
Serve on a Committee: SCMS can only exist through the dedicated work of our membership. Each level of our governance, from the Officers and Board of Directors to members of Standing and Annual Committees are volunteers. If you are interested
in supporting SCMS in this capacity, please volunteer to serve on either a standing or an annual committee.
